The Filevale connector lets Claude answer file questions with Filevale's free tools and guides. Ask how to convert, compress, merge or open a file and Claude points you to the right Filevale tool, walks you through the steps, or makes a QR code on the spot. It is free, needs no account and never receives your files.

- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.

In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http filevale https://mcp.filevale.com/mcp
Add it to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
- URL:
https://mcp.filevale.com/chatgpt. Authentication: none. - Confirm, choose Create as a plugin, then install it and ask in a chat.
What it can do
- Find a free file tool (
find_file_tool): matches your task against Filevale's 108 tools and returns up to five links, for example HEIC to JPG, Compress PDF or Extract RAR. - List all file tools (
list_file_tools): lists every Filevale tool, or one category (images, PDF, video & audio, documents, archives, QR codes), with links. - How-to guide (
get_how_to_guide): returns the best matching Filevale guide as step-by-step text, with related guides. Ask for a summary to get only titles and links. - Create a QR code (
create_qr_code): makes a QR code for a link, text, Wi-Fi network, email, phone call, SMS, WhatsApp chat or contact card (vCard), in your colors and up to 2048 px. It returns a link that opens the same code on Filevale, ready to download as PNG, SVG or JPG or to add a logo. - Make a downloadable file (
make_file): turns something Claude wrote in the chat (notes, a report, a table, data) into a PDF, Excel, CSV, JSON, YAML, Markdown, HTML, image or ZIP file. Claude gives you a link; it opens the right Filevale tool with the content loaded, makes the file in your browser and shows the Download button. Links last 24 hours.
None of the tools change anything in your accounts or read your chats or files. Find, guides and QR codes store nothing; “make a file” keeps only an encrypted copy of the content for 24 hours so its link works.
Examples
- “My iPhone photos are HEIC and the job portal wants JPG. What's a free way to convert them?”
- “How do I compress a PDF so it fits under the 10 MB email limit?”
- “Make a QR code for my guest Wi-Fi: network Cafe Guest, password coffee2026.”
- “I got a .7z file on my Mac. How do I open it?”
- “Turn this packing list into a PDF I can print.” or “Save that price table as an Excel file.”
Your files and data
The connector never receives files from your device: converting your own files happens in your browser on filevale.com or in the Filevale app. When Claude calls a tool, the connector receives only the request for that call (for example “compress pdf”, the text for a QR code, or the content of a file to make). For “make a file”, the content is encrypted on arrival and kept only encrypted for 24 hours; the key is only in your link, so we cannot read it, and your browser decrypts it and makes the file on your device. We count how often each tool is used, by country, without the request text. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
- Claude does not use Filevale: check that the connector is enabled in the chat's tools menu, or ask directly, for example “use Filevale to find a tool for…”.
- “Couldn't connect”: make sure the URL is exactly
https://mcp.filevale.com/mcpwith no authentication set. - A link opens the wrong tool: describe the file types, for example “MOV to MP4” instead of “fix my video”.
