Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word document?
Use PDF to Word. It rebuilds the text, headings and lists as a .docx file you can edit. Images and the exact layout are not kept, and scanned PDFs need OCR first, which Filevale does not do.
Does Compress PDF keep the text selectable?
No. Compress PDF re-renders the pages as images to shrink scanned and image-heavy PDFs, so the text is no longer selectable. For text-heavy files, removing pages with Delete PDF Pages or splitting the file often helps more, and PDF Size Breakdown shows which pages make it heavy.
Can I sign a PDF for free?
Yes. Sign PDF lets you draw, type or upload your signature, place and resize it on any page, add a date or text, and download the signed PDF. It is a visual signature flattened into the page, not a certificate-based digital signature.
Can I remove a password from a PDF?
Unlock PDF removes the password from a PDF you can already open: enter the password once and save a copy without it. It does not guess unknown passwords. To add a password, use Password Protect PDF (AES-256).
Can I scan a document with my phone?
Yes. Scan to PDF uses your phone or laptop camera, or photos you already took, crops and straightens each page, cleans it up and saves one PDF. It does not run OCR, so the text in the scan is not searchable.
