Privacy Policy

How Filevale handles your data. Files are converted on your device and never uploaded. What the site, apps and Chrome extensions record.

Filevale is made by Synthvale LLC ("Synthvale", "we"). This policy covers filevale.com, the Filevale apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the Filevale Chrome extensions, including Save Image As Type, and the Filevale connector for Claude and ChatGPT. Synthvale's company website and services have their own policy at synthvale.com/privacy.

1. Your files stay on your device

Every Filevale tool converts, compresses or edits your files on your own device: in your browser on filevale.com and in the Chrome extensions, and on your iPhone, iPad or Mac in the apps. Your images, PDFs, documents, archives, videos and audio files are not uploaded to Filevale or Synthvale servers, and we cannot see them. Results are saved where you choose (Downloads, Photos or Files).

2. Chrome extensions

The Filevale Chrome extensions (Save Image As Type, and Filevale – File Converter & QR) run their conversion engines inside the extension. They do not collect, store or send personal data, browsing history or website content, and they contain no analytics and no remote code.

  • The image or PDF you right-click: when you choose a Filevale action in the right-click menu, the extension reads that one file to convert it. If the website blocks a direct read, it reads the file inside the tab you clicked, for that click only (Chrome's activeTab and scripting permissions). The extension does not read the pages you visit otherwise and requests no access to websites.
  • Settings: your default format, quality and theme, and the last output format per tool, are saved with Chrome's storage on your computer (and synced by Chrome if you use Chrome Sync). They are not sent to us.
  • Downloads: converted files are saved to your Downloads folder with Chrome's downloads permission.
  • Links to filevale.com: links from an extension to this website carry tags such as utm_source=chrome-extension, so the website can count visits that came from the extension. They identify the extension, not you.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac

The apps process files on your device. Their App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected": the apps have no account, no analytics on your files or library, and no Filevale server to send anything to.

4. The website (filevale.com)

  • Anonymous usage counts. To see which pages and tools are used, the site records events such as a page view, a tool run, the file types converted (for example HEIC to JPG), the country and device type (mobile or desktop), the referring website and campaign tags. These counts are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine. They contain no file contents or file names, we do not store IP addresses with them, and we use no cookies or advertising trackers for them.
  • Local storage. Your browser keeps a few settings, such as the theme and where your visit came from, in its own storage on your device.
  • Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Optional sign-in. You do not need an account to use any tool. If you choose to sign in, Google Firebase Authentication handles it, and we receive your email address, your name if you sign in with Google, and an account ID, used only to keep you signed in.
  • Donations. Donations are processed by Whop. We receive a confirmation of the payment, never your full card details, under the Whop Privacy Policy.

5. Filevale connector for Claude and ChatGPT

The Filevale connector (mcp.filevale.com) lets AI assistants (Claude and ChatGPT) find Filevale tools, return Filevale guides, make QR codes and turn text written in the chat into a downloadable file. It never receives files from your device and has no accounts.

  • What it receives: when the assistant calls one of its tools, only the request the assistant sends for that call: the short task text (for example “compress pdf”), the content of a QR code (for example a link, or a Wi-Fi name and password), or, for “make a file”, the text the assistant wrote for that file. It does not receive your other messages, your chat history or files from your device.
  • Find, guides and QR codes: the request is used only to answer that call and is not stored or logged. QR images are made in memory and returned. A QR link carries its content in the link's # fragment, which browsers do not send to servers.
  • Make a file: the content is encrypted as soon as it arrives (AES-256-GCM, with a new random key for every file) and only the encrypted copy is kept, under a random ID, for 24 hours, after which it is deleted automatically. The key is placed only in the link the assistant gives you, after the #, and is never stored by us, so we cannot read the stored copy. When you open the link, your browser downloads the encrypted copy, decrypts it and makes the file on your device. Anyone with the link can open it until it expires, so share it only with people you trust.
  • What it records: an anonymous count per call (the tool name, the assistant and the country), in the same Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine statistics as the website, kept as aggregate statistics. No request text, IP address or identifier is stored with it.
  • Providers: the connector runs on Cloudflare Workers, and encrypted files are held in Cloudflare Workers KV. Cloudflare processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver and protect the service. Your use of the assistant itself is covered by its provider's privacy policy (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT).
  • Links: links in its answers carry utm_source=claude or utm_source=chatgpt, and App Store links a campaign tag, so we can count visits and installs that came from each assistant. They identify the source, not you.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. The only providers involved are the ones named above: Cloudflare (hosting, the Claude connector, its encrypted 24-hour files and usage counts), Google Firebase (optional sign-in) and Whop (donations), each under its own privacy policy. We disclose information when required by law.

7. Retention

Usage counts are kept as aggregate statistics. Encrypted files made through the Claude connector are deleted after 24 hours. Sign-in accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, such as a sign-in account. Email hello@synthvale.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Children

Filevale is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page with a new date.

Questions

Does Filevale upload my files?

No. The website, the apps and the Chrome extensions convert files on your device. Your files are not sent to Filevale or Synthvale servers.

What does the Save Image As Type extension collect?

Nothing. It reads only the image you right-click and choose to convert, keeps your settings in Chrome's storage, and has no analytics.

Do I need an account?

No. Every tool works without an account. Signing in is optional.
